Mobile App for the forum/site?

Posted 3 Months ago by Rika

So someone suggested an app or so to use on your phone/tablet. I am all for it, but not sure how easy it is to get one for this.

Costly, but would be a good idea for sure.

May have some leads on this... Maybe will see for both Android and iOS.

I've never had a need for a GT app. It works perfectly fine as a browser page on mobile. I'm not sure what functionality an app would bring. Besides that, I think that if we did have an app, that should be something we go for after working on the main site.

If you want to go this route, with a few lines of code I can turn every single page over a subdomain into a JSON output of data rather than html. The app developers then just have to hook whatever interface they build to those endpoints.

Ya, plus it costs $$ to have someone make an app. I don't know if I wanna go through hoops to get on it on the Google Play Store, etc. Rather just have a place where users can download the file and so on. I did some researching last night, and think as long as app isn't paid or has in-app paid content my personal info won't be listed. Still rather just allow users to download the app via the website.

It does work perfectly fine without the need for an actual mobile app I did realize last night.

There's people on Fiverr who will do the app building and such. I found someone last night. Still think your idea is OK.

Not like super expensive, so would be fine with this as just an option. It works/looks fine on a phone otherwise. Just think having an app or a way for the site to turn mobile friendly on a mobile/tablet device is wise nowadays.

Edit: I also will have the open source code for the app.

Really up to you? I think it looks ok on a mobile phone and prolly even a tablet. I'd maybe use it, though

It's like $100 to just get an Apple dev account. Ah well, can just provide the app download file for Apple/iOS.

Should also be stated that acceptance will not be guaranteed for Play Store though. It depends on if they approve it or not.

I have the apk file actually right now and tested it. It seems to be alright IMO! It's being submitted and awaiting approval on the play store.

I will be uploading the apk file ASAP and will do a new thread for the announcement.
